Elements and Performance Criteria

1. Prepare the work
   • Review the specifications and standards for the project
   • Review the project documentation for the development environment
   • Analyse, and confirm, that the development environment matches the project documentation and meets the standards
   • Select the development tools
2. Coordinate the work
   • Determine the work units based on the design
   • Delegate the work units to the appropriate developers
   • Brief the developers on standards, procedures, schedules and other requirements
   • Implement project management techniques to ensure that all tasks are completed on time, and according to standards, and the specification
3. Coordinate the development environment
   • Implement and test the changes to the development environment, and document the outcomes
   • Update the project documentation for the development environment

Performance Evidence

Evidence of the ability to:

analyse and confirm that the development environment matches the project documentation, and meets standards

select the development tools

determine work units based on the design

delegate work units to appropriate developers

brief developers on standards, procedures, schedules and other requirements

implement project management techniques to ensure that tasks are completed on time, and according to requirements

implement and test changes to the development environment, and document the outcomes

update the project documentation for the development environment.

Knowledge Evidence

To complete the unit requirements safely and effectively, the individual must:

identify the client business domain, to inform the system build

describe the client-server architecture

describe the current industry-accepted coding in a recognised language, including features and capabilities

summarise current industry-accepted database management system (DBMS) modelling techniques

identify and describe current industry-accepted hardware, and software products, including their general features and capabilities

describe the principles of contemporary databases development, and their application

describe the quality assurance practices required for the build phase of information and communications technology (ICT) systems.
